Cape Cod Collaborative strives to address the multiple needs of our students in an effort to support each student’s potential.
Cape Cod Collaborative S.T.A.R. Program supports students with a variety of learning needs, including medical & multiple needs, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and cognitive or neurological differences. Certified Special Education Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Nurses, and Therapists work together to address our students’ unique needs. Students are grouped in an effort to individualize instruction by learning style, therapy needs, and/or developmental age.
All classrooms offer full-day programming and follow the regular school calendar. Parent support is offered through ongoing communication with teaching and therapy staff, as well as parent meetings offered throughout the school year. A parent lending library has also been established.
S.T.A.R. classrooms are housed within public school settings in Mashpee, Sandwich, and Brewster. Our classrooms are substantially separate and offer an option to sending districts seeking programs to support students in a program that provides specialized instruction, small groups, and a high level of staff-to-student ratio. Each classroom offers a framework of instruction and integrated therapies, but a student's program is individualized to meet their unique needs. This is not an inclusion program within a general education classroom.
ASD/BC Classrooms: AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS/BEHAVIOR COMMUNICATION
Oak Ridge School, Henry T. Wing School, and Sandwich High School, Sandwich
The ASD/BC classrooms address the educational and pre-vocational needs of students with severe communication, social, and learning deficits through a behavioral base and structured teaching. Emphasis is placed upon increasing functional and independence skills. Academics, self-care, social interaction, and life skills are addressed through hands-on activities, facilitated activites and experiences. Generalization is supported through home/school communication, school-based activities, and when possible, community outings. The five classrooms currently serve students from Kindergarten through age 22 in multi-age groupings.
DTC - DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING CENTER
Oak Ridge School, Sandwich and Quashnet School, Mashpee
The two classrooms are designed to meet the individual sensory, motor and cognitive needs of PreK-12 students with significant, medical, and/or multiple disabilities. Emphasis is placed on development of responses to a variety of stimuli, positioning, and refinement of self-help programs. Educational needs include communication, augmentative devices social skills, modified academics and pre-vocational skills.
ED/BD classrooms - EMOTIONAL DISORDERS/BEHAVIOR DISORDERS
Stony Brook Elementary School, Brewster
The two ED/BD classrooms support students aged 6-10 with social-emotional, mental health, and/or behavior disorders. The program is designed to integrate behavioral, social, and academic supports for students that have been unsuccessful in an inclusion setting. Students have demonstrated a need for a high level of support that includes a structured routine with consistent expectations and follow-through. Special education, behavior, and clinical supports are incorporated to help students develop coping skills with the goal of returning to a less restrictive setting.

Parent support includes the opportunity of participation in a parent group that meets regularly during the school year. Meetings are typically held in Sandwich and will also run in Brewster.
- All referrals to CCC are made by the Special Education Director, PPS or District Liasion of a student’s home district.
- All CCC programs meet regulations for MCAS, utilizing the MCAS Alternate Assessment when appropriate.
- S.T.A.R. Program offers a six-week extended school year if deemed necessary by the IEP TEAM.
